Railways developing computerised system to evaluate safety skills

Our Bureau

New Delhi , June 21

AS part of its safety efforts, the Railways is developing a computerised competence evaluation system for various categories of staff on safety-related knowledge and skill.

The new system will put in place a periodical evaluation of knowledge to assess competence levels of employees in key safety areas to eliminate accidents by human failure and improve safety of rail services.

The system would also indicate the areas where competence level of safety related staff was low and needed improvement.

"This will enable the Government to address training needs of such employees appropriately in a cost-effective manner," a Railways spokesperson said on Monday.
