Supply Chain Management TNT offers new service Our Bureau
Mumbai June 22 TNT India Pvt Ltd, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Euro 12 billion express and logistics major TNT Post Group (TPG), has launched a new service, `Import Plus', to address the express needs of Indian importers. The new service provides importers with the advantage of paying in Indian currency. "The earlier practice whereby the importer paid for shipments in foreign currency made him vulnerable to fluctuations in exchange rates. Now the importer has the freedom to pay in Indian currency, making it a viable business solution for him," according to Mr Abhik Mitra, Managing Director of TNT India. He said the service also allowed the customer complete visibility of his shipments, irrespective of where these originate from. "With TNT's advanced tracking system and 24/7 customer service operations, customers can get real time updates on their consignments via SMS, email, WAP and internet," he added. This service will now enable the company to explore new markets in the express segment. TPG, which has presence in over 900 cities across 67 countries, was the first multi-national express distribution company to enter Indian market with a direct subsidiary.
