Venture Capital SiNett raises $15 m; to expand India operations Our Bureau
Bangalore , June 22 SINETT Corporation, a developer of wireless local area network (WLAN) packet processing silicon and software, has announced that it has raised $15 million in Series B funding. The round was led by Clearstone Ventures and includes previous investors - - Matrix Partners and Alliance Ventures. SiNett planned to use the recent funding for expanding its research and development (R&D) capabilities in Bangalore and enhancing sales and marketing in California, said the company CEO, Mr Shiri Kadambi. "The India R&D centre has made a significant contribution to our product development efforts. We are very bullish on the expertise and capabilities of the India Engineering Centre and plan to more than double our strength in India in the next six months," he said. SiNett currently has a headcount of over 40 people in India, which it plans to increase to 120 in the next six months. SiNett has seen strong interest for its WLAN packet processing technology, Mr Kadambi said, adding, ``This expansion in India will enable us to accelerate chip development efforts and introduce more products soon.'' ounded in September 2002, SiNett develops leading edge, packet processing silicon and software for network OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), targeting seamless wireless access in the enterprises. "The Indian engineering team has been instrumental in chip validation, embedded software development and system hardware design. Moving forward, the additional investments and planned expansion will allow us to strengthen our capabilities to undertake new, leading edge product development activities from design to deployment," said Mr Anirudh Mathuria, Country Head of SiNett, India.
