Tourism Malaysia woos Indian MICE market Our Bureau
New Delhi , June 23 IN a bid to tap the growing domestic meeting, incentives, conference and exhibition (MICE) industry, Tourism Malaysia announced the launch of its MICE campaign in India. In a statement, Tourism Malaysia has said along with its supporting partners, it would offer special incentives to enable Indian corporates and trade associations to host MICE events in Malaysia. The support and benefits include preferential airfares, special rates for accommodation and transportation, facilitation on customs and immigration clearances and special discounted rates at various convention centres. In addition, event organisers can also look forward to financial incentives in the form of a special discount ranging from 5 per cent to 20 per cent contributed by the supporting private partners including hotels, convention centres, transport facilitators and event organising contractors, the statement adds. Besides, in order to popularise the convention or exhibition, Tourism Malaysia would provide hyperlink facility of the event on its conference and exhibition section of the official Web site as well as on the publicity material, disseminate information to relevant organisations. The contribution of India to the Malaysian MICE arrivals has been growing steadily. While during 2001 the Indian MICE arrivals stood at 7,351 it grew to 18,608 during 2003 making India the eighth largest contributor to the Malaysian MICE market ahead of UK and Germany.
