Rubber continues to rule steady

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , June 23

RUBBER prices continued to rule steady on Wednesday. Certain growers, who were in need of immediate cash, appeared to be selling at the prevailing rates.

Expectations of an improvement in production and arrivals in the absence of rains for the past few days had also tempted traders to press sales.

However, the selling was absorbed by the covering groups and purchase agents and RSS 4 closed at Rs 66.50 as on the previous day.

The futures market remained firm on Wednesday. The near month July delivery was quoted at Rs 64.80 (64.57), August delivery at Rs 60.77 (60.52), September delivery at Rs 58.60 (58.47) and October delivery at Rs 57.98 (57.73) per kg for RSS 4.

At Bangkok, RSS 3 closed at Rs 63.96 against Rs 63.39 a kg. The TOCOM July futures for RSS 3 declined to 159.4 yen from 160.4 yen a kg on Tuesday.

The spot market rates per kg were as follows: RSS 4 Rs 66.50 (66.50); RSS 5 Rs 62.50 (62.50); ungraded Rs 60.50 (60.50); ISNR 20 Rs 58 (58); latex 60 per cent Rs 48 (48).
