Red Hat reports $10.7-m income

NEW DELHI: Red Hat, the open source and Linux provider, has reported a net income of $10.7 million for the quarter ended May 31, 2004. It is an increase of 113 per cent over net income of $5 million in the prior quarter and an increase of 603 per cent from the year-ago period.

Revenue for the first quarter of financial year 2004-05 is up 13 per cent at $41.6 million, over $37 million in the fourth quarter of 2003-04, says a company release. The sales growth continued to outpace the Intel-based server market, reaching 98,000 subscriptions in the first quarter, an increase of 13 per cent.

The renewal rate for subscriptions sold to Red Hat Enterprise Linux in the previous years is about 85 per cent.
