MSOs ask TRAI to make CAS mandatory

MSO Alliance, a group of six Multi System Operators (MSOs), will submit a memorandum on conditional access system (CAS) to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in a day or two requesting it to mandate CAS implementation across the country.

The MSO Alliance group met TRAI officials on Wednesday and resented the move to scrap the CAS in favour of a new delivery technology `TRAP' saying that it was being promoted by vested parties - both broadcasters and telecom operators.
