Textile institute opening at Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: The Union Textile Ministry sponsored national textile management institute, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Textile Management (SVPITM), will commence academic courses from the first week of next month.

The new academic building of the institute, located on the Avanashi Road here, will be formally dedicated to the institute on Saturday by Mr S.B Mohapatra, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, who will also officially launch the academic courses to be offered by the management institute.

To start with, two textile management courses - home textile management (one-year post diploma) and Post-graduate diploma in textile management (two-year course) - will be offered during the inaugural year.

Two of the regional textile bodies, the Southern India Mills Association and the Tirupur Exporters Association, have donated the academic building for the institute.
