HDFC Bank to borrow Rs 5,000 cr

MUMBAI: HDFC Bank has obtained the shareholders' approval to borrow an amount up to Rs 5,000 crore.

The bank said in a notice to the Bombay Stock Exchange that at its recently held AGM, it has approved the resolution enabling the board of directors to borrow an amount not exceeding Rs 5,000 crore.

According to bank sources, the capital will be raised through borrowings in the course of the year. Meanwhile, there could be an equity issue or even a preferential allotment.

The bank also informed the BSE that Mr Bobby Parikh and Mr Ranjan Kapur have been appointed as its directors. It has also decided to de-list its equity shares from the Ahmedabad Stock Exchange.
