Centre expands household industries list for Delhi

Our Bureau

New Delhi , June 27

THE Centre, following Supreme Court directions, has proposed to expand the list of household industries under the Master Plan of Delhi, 2001, by including 23 more industries in addition to the present level of 73.

Household industries are those specified small, cottage industries, which can run in household or residential areas. Other kinds of industries in residential areas are non-conforming and, hence, illegal.

Early last month, the Supreme Court had reportedly directed the Delhi Government to close all industries, except the household industries, in residential and non-conforming areas, which were set up after August 1, 1990, within five months. The Bench had directed the Centre to finalise the list of permissible household industries within three months.
