Maditssia for separate policy

Our Bureau

Madurai , June 27

THE Madurai District Tiny And Small Scale Industries Association (Maditssia) has appealed to the Centre for a draft policy exclusively for the small and tiny industries in the current session of the Parliament.

They have also urged for a relevant Act that can be reviewed every year by the Small Industries Board and amended, if necessary.

At Maditssia's annual general body meeting held here, the association has demanded the enactment of a single comprehensive small business Act to rid the sector of about 52 legislations and statues.

It regretted that the rate of interest for the small-scale sector has not been brought down while housing loans were given at a much lesser rate of 7 per cent.

The association appealed to the State Government to revise the electricity tariff as has been done for domestic consumption. It pleaded for setting up a `Tidel Park' here to provide job opportunities..
