Foreign Trade CII President leads delegation to UK Our Bureau
New Delhi , June 28 TO drive home the message that despite a change at the Centre, India still remains one of the most favoured destinations for doing business, the newly appointed President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mr Sunil Kant Munjal, is leading a 14-member delegation of Chief Executive Officers to the UK. During the three-day visit, which begins on Tuesday, the mission will impress upon British industry that the Indian Government is committed to the reform process. The Chairman and Chief Mentor, Infosys Technologies and Co-Chairman, Indo-British Partnership, Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy, is the co-leader of the mission. In a statement, the Chamber has said that the mission is a part of the continuing dialogue under the Indo-British Partnership, which was initiated in 1993 and got a boost with the subsequent visit of the British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, to India. During the current visit, the mission will also meet the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, Ms Patricia Hewitt, and the Secretary of Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Mr Jack Straw. The mission will also have a brainstorming session with the Commonwealth Business Council, the International Institute of Strategic Studies and the Labour Friends of India. The delegation will also meet other senior representatives of the UK administration and business leaders in London to discuss the way forward for strengthening the bilateral trade and investment relations. The delegation includes the Chairman, ITC Ltd, Mr Y.C. Deveshwar; the Chairman, Lazard India, Mr Udayan Bose; the Chairman and Managing Director, JM Morgan Stanley Pvt Ltd, Mr Nimesh Kampani, and the Executive Vice-President, Tata Consultancy Services, Mr Phiroz Vandrevala.
