DRT sitting recovers Rs 4.26 cr in TN

AT its third special sitting, the Debts Recovery Tribunal (DRT), Coimbatore, recorded recovery to the tune of Rs 4.26 crore.

This time, the special sitting was organised exclusively for recovering money due to the Scheduled Banks under its jurisdiction.

Federal Bank, ICICI, Lord Krishna Bank, Lakshmi Vilas Bank, South Indian Bank, Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank and City Union Bank were the participants in the sitting.

The DRT has remained head less since February 2004. Mr A. Vijay Kumar, who took additional charge as the Presiding Officer of the DRT here, has in the last four months managed to settle 72 cases and record a recovery of Rs 15.10 crore at the Special Sitting.

Apart from such special sittings, Mr Vijay Kumar has managed to dispose off 57 cases during the regular sittings wherein a total amount of Rs 14.57 crore was recovered.

The Tribunal is now contemplating to hold Lok Adalat in the coming months.
