AFTER the controversy surrounding the printing and publication of the International Herald Tribune (IHT) in India, the Government today shifted the Registrar of Newspapers in India (RNI), Mr G.D. Beliya and the Deputy Press Registrar, Mr Uday Morey.
Mr Beliya is being replaced by Ms Deepak Sandhu, Additional Press Information Officer, Press Information Bureau (PIB), while Mr Beliya will now be Director (Research, Reference and Training) in the PIB.
Mr Beliya's transfer comes after the Information and Broadcasting Ministry said that publishing the newspaper was against existing norms. Questions have been raised over the title clearance by the RNI.
Besides this, other changes include Mr K Muthukumar, Director (Media Cell) in the Finance Ministry being posted in the PMO to assist Media Adviser Sanjaya Baru. Mr D N Mohanty, DPIO, PIB, has been made the Joint Director, Publications Division in place of Mr V Ramsesh, who has been made Deputy Press Registrar.
