Our Bureau

Chennai , June 30

THE Chennai port has complied with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, which stipulates strict security measures on board ships and at ports, according to a release.

The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), the designated authority to monitor and issue ISPS certification, issued a Statement of Compliance of a Port Facility to the Chennai port recently, says a release issued by Chennai Port Trust.

The DGS carried out the compliance audit of the port during May 2004.

Following this, ships entering the port will be now required to file details in PROFORMA-1 24 hours prior to their expected time of arrival.
