NIIT Tech to raise headcount by 800

IT solutions provider NIIT Technologies Ltd (NTL) will add about 800 knowledge professionals over the next 12 months as part of its expansion plans, entailing an investment of Rs 40 crore,

"We will grow our knowledge professionals' headcount by adding 200 people every quarter, and so we will add 800 professionals in the coming 12 months, both in India and outside," Mr Arvind Thakur, CEO of NIIT Technologies, said.

As part of its expansion drive, NIIT is moving into a 25,000-sq.-ft software development facility in Salt Lake, Kolkata. The facility would be inaugurated by West Bengal's IT Minister in mid-July.

The company also plans to expand its business process outsourcing (BPO) facility in Gurgaon. "We will set up new software development centres and expand our existing facilities and expect to invest Rs 40 crore in the next 12 months," Mr Thakur said.

NTL's existing headcount stands at 2,453. The company's offshore development centres are located in Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. It also has a near-shore centre at Atlanta and Charlotte in the US, London and Stuttgart in Europe and Bangkok and Singapore in South-East Asia.
