SBI staff federation call for protest

Our Bureau

Coimbatore , July 5

THE members of the State Banks' Staff Union (SBSU) have been told by the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation (AISBISF) to be ready for strikes, as the management has failed to relent on its demands for improving workmen staff relationship.

The confrontationist course of action is slated to commence with lunchtime demonstration at all branches and offices on July 2, to be followed by boycott of official functions from July 26, and culminate in a full day strike on August 9.

The Federation has, in a communication to the Bank's Chairman, alleged that its pleas were being dealt with a closed mind.

"Unilateral clarifications are given on agreed issues. Interpretation of instructions detrimental to the interest of employees is also given. Further, clarifications misinterpreting the bilateral issues are sent to different Circles ignoring the Federation.

Unilateralism is gradually becoming the order of the day," Mr Profullo Kumar Patnaik, Secretary, AISBISF, has said.

The Union/Federation has been asking the Management to convert part-time employees to full-time workmen.
