Our Bureau

Hyderabad , July 6

THE National Institute of Smart Governance (NISG) is organising an Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICTD) workshop on July 8 and 9 here as a part of the project that aims to make information and communication technologies work for people.

It is expected to bring together people involved in various ICTD initiatives across the country.

"The ICTD workshop will focus on issues related to using ICTs to provide integrated citizen services for enhancing rural livelihood, for transforming rural governance and for the empowerment of women," the Chief Executive Officer of NISG, Mr J. Satyanaryana, said in a press release.

"Today, there is considerable global interest in the prospect of using ICTs for advancing human development goals in developing countries. When GoI launched its National e-Governance Action Plan 2003-2007, its motive was to use ICTs to lay the foundation and provide impetus for long-term growth of e-governance.
