Judicial probe into `Food for Work' scheme in AP

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , July 6

THE State Government has announced its decision to constitute a judicial probe into alleged irregularities in the implementation of the `Food for Work' programme during the TDP rule.

After nearly two hours of heated exchanges on the Food for Work programme in the State Assembly, the State Panchayati Raj Minister, Mr J.C. Diwakar Reddy, announced that the Government would constitute a judicial probe into the implementation of the programme.

Mr Reddy said, "We will soon write to the Andhra Pradesh High Court to nominate a sitting judge to inquire into the matter, or in case, the High Court is not able to spare a judge, we would request them to constitute an enquiry by a retired HC judge."

Earlier in the day, the TDP leader and former Chief Minister, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, demanded a judicial probe as he felt that this would bring out the truth and expose the double speak of the ruling party members.
