Chennai , July 9

MORE than 70 Thai companies in 16 product categories have showcased their products at the Thailand Exhibition 2004 at the Chennai Trade Centre. The participants are looking for tie-ups with importers, distributors and retailers in India who will import their products to sell in the Indian market.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr Prakob Panjacharoensiri, Director, Thai Trade Centre Mumbai, said that there was a lot of potential for trade between Thailand and India. The exhibition is part of Thailand's global export promotion strategy, which seeks to promote Thai products around the world through such exhibitions. The objective of the exhibition is to project Thailand as a brand and to showcase all the Thai products under this banner.

The display of fresh fruits, food products, plastics, clothing, food and furniture at international trade fairs draws not just business people but also shoppers. Every year one million people visit Thailand, a press release issued on the occasion said.

The Thailand Exhibition 2004 is organised by Thai Trade Centre Mumbai, a representative of the Department of Export Promotion (DEP) in India.

The exhibition is on up to July 11. It will be open for business visitors on all three days and for the public between 4 pm and 7 pm on all days.
