EPF rate

This is with reference to "TUs to press for 9.5 pc PF rate — Inflation indexed formula to be proposed" (Business Line, July 11). The proposal to categorise the EPF members into two categories and give differential interest rate based on monthly salary is welcome. The EPF Act is mainly intended to protect the interest of the poor working class who could not afford to save for a rainy day.
