Pizza Hut in Kochi

Our Bureau

Kochi , July 13

PIZZA Hut, which claims it is the world's largest pizza chain, today entered Kerala with a restaurant in Kochi, as it plans to increase the number of outlets in India to 100 by end of this year from the existing 73.

With the Kochi restaurant, Pizza Hut, a part of Yum! Brands Inc, now has a presence in all the four South Indian States, said Mr Sandeep Kohli, Managing Director, Indian Subcontinent of Yum! Restaurants International.

He said the company would establish outlets in new markets to move beyond the metros. "Pizza Hut's first restaurant in Kerala is important to us not only because it consolidates the brand's presence in South India, but also because it brings us one significant step closer to our 100 restaurant target for end of 2004," Mr Kohli said.

The company's entry into Kerala also marks the beginning of a partnership between Pizza Hut and S.M.A. Restaurant and Service Pvt Ltd, which is the local franchisee in Kerala. The latter is a part of Chennai-based S.M Apparels.
