Rubber prices stay unchanged

PHYSICAL rubber prices were steady on Wednesday. The market sustained at the prevailing rates in the absence of sellers who expect the rains to continue while the buyers appeared waiting for the rates to cool down forecasting rather bright days ahead. The trading floors were comparatively inactive.

The rubber futures followed the same trend though the world markets closed lower on Wednesday. The August delivery was quoted at Rs 64.68 (Rs 64.54), September at Rs 61.17 (Rs 61.22) and October at Rs 58.75 (Rs 58.90) per kg for RSS 4.The transactions were low.

At Bangkok, RSS 3 declined to Rs 59.89 from Rs 59.92 a kg on Tuesday. The August futures for the same grade fell sharply to close at 135.5 yen against 139.5 Yen at TOCOM.

The spot market rates per kg follow: RSS 4 Rs 67.50 (Rs 67.50); RSS 5 Rs 65 (R 65); Ungraded Rs 62 (Rs 62); ISNR 20 Rs 59 (Rs 59); and Latex 60% Rs 49.50 (Rs 49.50).
