HYDERABAD: The President, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, has asked the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to consider generation of energy efficient building codes that would promote green building in the country.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the CII-Sohrabji Green Business Centre (GBC), he asked the CII to embark upon more public-private partnerships.

Impressed by the world's third building to achieve the Platinum rating by the US Green Business Council, the President said the seeds of this perspective need to be sown in the schools of architecture and town planning.

Dr Kalam said nano-technology offered a solution to achieve a very optimal and efficient lighting system. He predicted that new discoveries in the nano field could revolutionise rural electrification for lighting.

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rjasekhara Reddy, sought the CII's help in the Government's endeavour to promote bio diesel projects. - Our Bureau
