AIR India plans to fly to destinations in Europe and the US from Chennai in the near future, according to Mr P.P. Singh, Regional Director, Air India.

He was talking to reporters on the occasion of 50th anniversary of the first Air India flight to Singapore from Chennai.

He said the management, at the "highest level," was looking at direct connections to the West from Chennai. He, however, did not disclose the exact date of the launch.

The airline will add one more flight to London and two more to Los Angeles from December 2.

On the subject of agency commission, Mr Singh said Air India, unlike some of the European airlines, will not reduce the agency commission from 7 per cent to 5 per cent as there no is immediate need for it.
