Idea Cellular to catch them young in Delhi

Our Bureau

New Delhi , July 16

IN a bid to catch the younger mobile users, Idea Cellular has introduced pre-paid card tariff package for students in Delhi, which offers short messaging for as low as 10 paise a message. The outgoing cell-to-cell tariff will be Re 1 per minute while calls to other phones would cost Rs 2.49 per minute.

The new offer called `Campus Offer from Idea" is, however, valid for only two months and will be available to students from colleges across Delhi. All calls between 11 pm and 8 am will have a night tariff of Re 1 per minute. SMS charges for Idea-to-Idea messaging will be 10 paise and SMS to subscribers of other operators will be 50 paise per message.

Earlier, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd had launched a similar package aimed at students.

Mr Rajendra Chourasia, Vice-President and Circle Head, Idea Cellular, said, "The youth are a key segment fuelling the growth of pre-paid mobiles in the country. Their special needs of texting are taken care of by our new customised offerings for them. Moreover, special tariffs for cell-to-cell and night talk will provide them value beyond normal while talking from their mobiles."
