Roadways Kerala pvt bus strike from July 26 Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Private Bus Operators Federation has decided to stop plying their fleet indefinitely from July 26 to highlight a list of demands including a hike in the minimum fare to Rs 3.50 and per km fare to 55 paise. The President and General Secretary of the federation, Mr Khalid Mundappilly and Mr M.S. Prem Kumar respectively, said here that the indefinite stir, originally scheduled to take effect from July 7, had been postponed on the basis of an assurance given by the Chief Minister and the Transport Minister to consider their demands. But, the State Government had largely chosen to look the other way till date, leaving the federation no option but to resort to direct action from July 26. All private buses plying in the State would join the stir, the federation leaders added.
