Blood glucose monitor launched in AP

HYDERABAD: Lifescan Inc, a division of Johnson and Johnson that manufactures blood glucose monitoring systems, has launched OneTouch Horizon, a self-testing system in the Indian market.

Introducing the product at a press conference here on Friday, Dr V. Mohan, President of the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, said only less than one per cent of diabetics did self-testing due to lack of education and absence of affordable kits.

Dr B.K. Sahay, a senior diabetes expert, said regular monitoring of blood glucose levels was very important to keep the disease in control. "If people do it for themselves, it would be more useful," he said. OneTouch Horizon is priced at Rs 1,500. This, however, excludes the cost of strips.
