Hyderabad , July 16

ESEVA APOnline, an initiative of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Andhra Pradesh Technology Services Ltd (APTS), a corporation wholly owned by the State Government, now comes closer to customers' doorsteps by offering utility payment services.

In a new initiative, APOnline has tied up with PCO NET Ltd to offer payment services for utility bills, in the customers' homes. Under this agreement, `authorised attendants,' who carry mobile terminals, go from door-to-door all across the State, accepting payments in the form of cash and cheques. Connected to the departmental servers via wireless Internet, the service is a safe and convenient way to pay bills.

According to Mr Rajesh Nambiar, Director, APOnline, this service will ensure that contemporary technology benefits the common man.

The doorstep bill payment service was launched on Friday by Dr J.C. Mohanty, Principal Secretary, IT&C Department.

Dr Mohanty in a statement said, "This is an important step in bringing the Government closer to consumers. The use of mobile terminals will bring more convenience for customers to pay utility bills such as water, power and telephone bills. With security built-in through these terminals, customers can pay utility bills at their convenience. We encourage citizens to use this service for better service and convenience."

APOnline is now offering services for utility bills such as electricity, water and Tata Indicom bill payments, application and information services to the State. It has also witnessed a steep increase in the volume of transactions.

ICICI Bank is the authorised banker working in partnership with eSeva APOnline for collection and remittance of bills from service delivery points.
