Birlas likely to appoint PR firm

Our Bureau

Kolkata , July 17

THE Birlas are likely to appoint a professional PR firm shortly to handle the press relations and publicity matters relating to their dispute with Mr R.S. Lodha.

This is because, according to sources close to the Birlas, distorted reports have appeared in newspapers in the past few days. Many of the senior Birlas have been quoted as saying something which they have not stated in too many words. Also, many of the reports were full of conjectures and speculation. All this, it is felt, are not desirable in the present situation. Once the PR firm has been appointed, there will be a single-point official information source in regard to the views of the Birlas.

A Mumbai-based firm is believed to have been already sounded in this matter. The CEO of the firm will be meeting the senior Birlas shortly here to firm up the arrangement and to have an idea as to how he should go about in the matter. It might be noted that the press releases containing the official views of the Birlas were released in past two days from Mumbai.
