Videocon all set to sponsor cricket series

Hyderabad , July 17

IT will be more cricket for the Rs 7,000-crore consumer electronics and home appliances major Videocon, as it gets ready to sponsor the forthcoming `Champion of Champion' series in Holland, where India, Pakistan and Australia are set to clash for the `Videocon Cup' in August.

The company's increasing presence in the promotion of the popular sport stems from its successful association in the India versus New Zealand test series and the subsequent India versus Australia series in Australia.

The Videocon International President, Mr Pradeepkumar N. Dhoot, stated this while speaking at the launch of the `germ-free' range of Videocon products here on Saturday.

Mr Dhoot said the company would also sponsor the upcoming India-South Africa series in India, also to be called the Videocon Cup.

He told presspersons that the company expects to record a turnover of at least Rs 400 crore during the first quarter of sales from `germ-free' range of products. On the overall turnover, the company expects to maintain at least 20 per cent growth over the last fiscal. Stating that Videocon had invested over Rs 1,000 crore on manufacturing and research and development facilities over the last three years, Mr Dhoot said the company has enough capacities and has no expansion plans in the short-term.

"The focus would be on more innovations for ensuring enhanced convenience to consumers and at the same time retaining our market leadership position in the escalating competitive markets," Mr Dhoot said.

On the `revolutionary germ-free technology', Mr Dhoot said, "While others create clutter and noise, speaking volumes of health and freshness, they make no reference to the technology to back up their claims. Videocon, on the other hand, can confidently and truly claim to have technology that makes Videocon Homes truly germ-free homes."

It has armed its refrigerators with anti-bacterial lining, equipped the washing machines with anti-bacterial tub, created air-conditioners with advanced pollution control devices, enhanced the pleasure through strain-free viewing in colour televisions and provided the unique 360 degrees cooking microwaves to enjoy germ-free food, he added.
