Tea CTCs firm at Kochi auction Our Bureau
Kochi , July 18 A GOOD general demand resulted in the spurting of prices of almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Of the quantity of 8,59,000 kg on offer in the dust category, CTC market was fully firm to dearer by Rs 1-2 and sometimes more. Orthodox remained steady to dearer. The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 55 and Rs 73, medium CTC realised Rs 48-52 and poorer type were quoted Rs 37-43. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 85 and Rs 93, while medium BOPD realised Rs 36-41. Residuals were quoted at Rs 27-30. The leaf sale also witnessed a good general demand and the quantity on offer was 3,00,000 kg. Orthodox medium highgrown brokens and fannings steady to dearer by a rupee. CTCs fully firm to dearer by a rupee. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 55 and Rs 67, medium orthodox realised Rs 45-55. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 48 and Rs 58, while medium CTC realised Rs 40-47. In the dust category, Havukal BOPD fetched the best prices of Rs 93 followed by Kodanaad BOPD-CL by Rs 85. In leafs, Chamraj OP realised the prices of Rs 89-88, followed by P's Woodlands OP, Havukal BOPF and Cloudsland OP by Rs 80 each.
