Indo-German project at Kancharapalem

VISAKHAPATNAM: Gayatri Engineering College here has been chosen to be the implementing agency for the Rs 23-crore Indo-German Institute of Advanced Technology (IGIAT) to be set up in the industrial estate at Kancharapalem.

This was stated by the principal of the college, Prof P. Srinivasa Rao, at a seminar for aspiring engineering students who qualified in the EAMCET examination here on Sunday.

He said the German Government would contribute Rs 16 crore and the State Government Rs 7 crore besides five acres of land for the project. The MoU for the project had been signed last year but due to the elections and the change of the Government it had been delayed. The work on the project would start in a few weeks' time and it would of great help to the industry as well as the engineering colleges in and around Visakhapatnam, he said.
