Protest at Railway office

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hundreds of people, including children, laid siege to the Divisional Railway headquarters office on Monday demanding the retention of the goods shed at the neighbouring Kochuveli even after the development of the satellite terminal there.

The agitators, who had gathered under the banner of the FCI Valiyathura depot-Kochuveli Goods Yard Samrakshana Samithy, blocked the gates from 10 a.m., disrupting the functioning of the Railway office.

Family members of the FCI employees and workers in the goods yard squatted in front of the main gate preventing the 1,200-odd officials and Railway staff from leaving the premises.
