Our Bureau

Hyderabad , July 20

THE State Government will conduct a survey to ascertain the number of power consumers using single electricity bulb for lighting their houses, the Finance Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, said.

Mr Rosaiah said the Government was also convening a meeting of officials next Saturday to discuss the proposal to supply power free of cost to such families.

0The Minister said there are 13.92 lakh households in the State that consume less than 15 units of power a month. Mr Rosaiah said the ruling Congress Party would not go back on its election promise of providing free power to single-bulb consumers.

The State Revenue Minister, Mr D. Prasad Rao, informed the Legislative Assembly Reliance Infocom constructed a Base Transmission Station Tower on Government land in Secunderabad. The company had encroached on the Government land to an extent of 110.74 square metres worth about Rs 5 lakh.

The Minister said the Government seized the encroached premises and locked it on March 3, 2003. Reliance representatives came forward for a lease agreement with the Government. The lease agreement is under process.
