Good governance

Of late, it is becoming realised in the developing countries that `good governance' is a better way to achieve the high growth rate than merely to increase investments in the social sector.

The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, should therefore focus on transparency in administration of the Government, accountability of the public authorities, protection of human rights and efficient ulitilisation of available funds — the four pillars of `good governance'.
