HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) proposes to establish a mega industrial park in and around Krishnapatnam port in Nellore district of the State in an extent of 1329.43 acres, the State Minister for Major Industries, Mr B. Satyanarayana, told the Assembly on Wednesday.

Replying to a question raised by Mr A. Prabhakara Reddy and others, the Minister said that APIIC had also proposed to develop a leather park in 14.45 acres at Doravarisathram in the district.

A demand assessment study was currently in progress for the expansion of Autonagar at Nellore.

He said that proposal of Chemplast Chloro Chemicals Ltd for allotment of 148.49 acres of land for establishing its unit in the area was under process. The Minister, however, assured the legislators that he would look into their objections to the establishment of the Chemplast unit.

The members said that the proposed Chemplast unit would cause pollution in the vicinity and hence urged the Minister not to accord permission.
