KRBL ties up with agro firms for inputs to farmers

Dhimant Bhatt

Mumbai , July 22

KRBL Ltd, a rice exporting firm, has set up an `Agri Services Division' under Farm Management Services (FMS) comprising agriculture experts such as entomologists, pathologists, soil scientists and agri-extension workers to strengthen its partnership with farmers

The company has entered into an arrangement with leading agro companies to provide FMS to farmers.

"Under FMS, the company arranges to provide all inputs to the farmer including seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and also farm equipments. The company will also strengthen its business segment of agro-input products along with the products of its associates to facilitate better farming facilities," Mr Anoop Gupta, Joint Managing Director of the company said.

Apart from FMS, the company has entered into the lucrative seeds market with production, processing and marketing of seeds being undertaken jointly with large corporations. The company is scaling up its manufacturing capacities to manufacture, process and market seeds of cereals, pulses, oilseeds and fibre crops.

In the first phase, the company plans to scale-up production of high quality seeds of cereals such as wheat, maize and pearl millet.

The company, jointly with other agro-product companies, would market these seeds across India. The company already has business relationship and association with other large players such as Cargill, Shriram, Mahindra & Mahindra, ITC and Rallis.
