Meet on captive power in Hyderabad
Our Bureau
HYDERABAD: With the high level of tariffs for HT consumers and low priority being accorded to the industry during the time of power shortage, more and more industries in the country are going for captive power generation, according to speakers at a seminar on `Captive power generation - Steam route' here.
Inaugurating the seminar, Mr R.K. Sharma, Director (Technical) of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd, said the Electricity Act 2003 provided for trading of electricity and open access to transmission and distribution of power. On account of this, it was possible for an industry located in a particular State to have a captive power unit in another State. Around 120 senior level managers representing various industrial segments, manufacturers and consultancy organisations attended the seminar, organised by the Hyderabad Chapter of the Indian Institution of Plant Engineers.
