Godrej Consumer posts Rs 17-cr net profit

Mumbai: Godrej Consumer Products Ltd has ended the first quarter of 2004/2005 with a 25 per cent increase in profit after tax at Rs 17 crore as compared to Rs 13.82 crore in the year-ago period.

Sales revenue net of excise increased by 16 per cent to Rs 136.58 crore as compared to Rs 117.89 crore.

Godrej brand sales moved up by 21 per cent to Rs 129 crore. The company said that new product launches have helped it to strengthen its position in the toilet soaps category.

"The results for the quarter reflect the company's ability to deliver sustained growth.
