Pharmaceuticals Novartis Q1 net up at Rs 21.14 cr Our Bureau
Mumbai , July 22 NOVARTIS India Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 21.14 crore for the quarter-ended June 30, 2004, against a net profit of Rs 17.63 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income has decreased to Rs 138.48 crore (Rs 140.89 crore). All businesses of company, except animal health, reported growth in sales, a company communiqué pointed out. While the anti-tuberculosis drugs segment and the over-the-counter businesses grew, the animal health sales saw a 52.4 per cent decline to Rs 6.5 crore, due to the discontinuation of an organophosphorous compound which the Novartis Group decided to phase out, the company said. "The improvement in profits was due to a better product-mix and lower depreciation post impairment of the company's assets at Mahad," the company said.
