Unichem's Baddi plant to go on stream next year

UNICHEM Laboratories Ltd's new manufacturing facility at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, for the manufacture of non-antibiotic formulations, is likely to go on stream by April 2005, according to Dr Prakash Mody, Chairman of the company.

With the Baddi plant, the total tally of manufacturing facilities would go up to four, he said at the company's annual general meeting, here.

The company is also exploring a local acquisition of a bulk drug facility, he added.

The company' revenues for the first quarter ended June 2004 was Rs 121.9 crore, a growth of 28.3 per cent. Net profit, during this period had increased to Rs 14.4 crore, up 38.4 per cent.

The company's subsidiary Niche Generics recorded a turnover of GBP 1.93 million during the first quarter of the current year, according to a company release.
