Now, IVRS in college

L.N. Revathy

Coimbatore , July 23

TAKING cue from the interactive voice information and request system activated by the Railways and the new generation banks in the private sector, educational institutions see great potential in introducing the IVRS (interactive voice response system).

Imagine this situation: You have sent your child to a hostel to enable him to pursue higher studies.

You are curious to know if he is attending classes regularly, about his performance, his rank, term fees etc.

Till recently you could not be discreet about getting such informationIntroduction of the IVRS tool would probably come in handy for the parents to get these details.

Dr Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) at Pollachi near here has made a beginning, by implementing IVRS developed by the Chennai-based Palpap Ichinichi Software International Ltd.

The Chairman and CEO of Palpap, Mr P. Senthilkumar, said that the company has done extensive research for five years before fine-tuning the system.

According to Mr M. Manickam, Vice-Chairman, MCET, 35 villages have been identified in and around Pollachi for implementing the scheme.
