Our Bureau

New Delhi , July 23

GLAXOSMITHKLINE Consumer Healthcare Ltd has recorded a net profit of Rs 18.58 crore for the quarter ended June 31, 2004. This is down 16.61 per cent from a profit after tax of Rs 22.28 crore for the quarter ended June 31, 2003.

The company's total revenues went up by 3.4 per cent at Rs 213.49 crore for the second quarter (Q2), as compared to Rs 206.48 crore during the same period last year.

On a half yearly basis, the profit before tax is at Rs 59.66 crore as on June 31, down 3.15 per cent from Rs 61.6 crore as recorded for the last year period.

The company's profit before tax decline reflects "investments behind key brands and the decision not to pass on to consumers the full adverse impact of higher milk costs," said a statement. The company also declared an interim dividend of 33 per cent.
