Hyderabad , July 25

THE cardiac team of Care Hospitals, Nampally, conducted the third heart transplant in the State. Mr M. Venkateswara Rao, a soft-drinks vendor from Pengolanu village in Krishna district, was donated a heart by a Gujarati driver last month.

Mr Rao, who was operated upon on June 2, was discharged on Saturday.

"I'm feeling good now. I'll go back to my village carry on my soda business," a beaming Mr Rao said. Mr Rao, who first suffered a heart attack on October 25, 2003, experienced bouts of breathlessness and was referred to Care. It was found that transplantation was the only solution to his problem.
