E-Governance IBM, Chandigarh tie up for new centre Our Bureau
New Delhi , July 27 IBM India announced on Tuesday the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chandigarh Union Territory forsetting up the `IBM e-Governance Solutions Center for Linux'. "Under the MoU, IBM will set up an `IBM eGovernance Solutions Center For Linux' for the Chandigarh Administration - a significant initiative that will help Chandigarh develop different e-Government applications using open standards and IBM's e-Governance frameworks," an IBM release said here. The Center For Linux would be aimed at promoting affordable, open-standards-based services. "The IBM eGovernance Solutions Center For Linux will provide online support on Linux, train students and professionals of Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana on Linux and IBM software. This will help to reduce costs of computing and ensure the spread of Information Technology. This will be the first of its kind in the country that will have both support and skill set transfer options for different end-users," the release said. IBM would also share its e-Governance framework based on open-standards outlined with the Chandigarh Administration to develop applications in a systematic manner.Under the MoU, the Chandigarh Administration would form a core team.
