Tea technology

Tea manufacturers in Southern India have invented a new process to enhance the appearance of tea by adding sugar to the green leaf before cutting begins. This tea has better sheen and density and is much sought after by the exporters.

This is a win-win situation where both the manufacturers and the growers gain because the higher unit realisation is passed on to the grower as higher rate for green leaf. The voluminous addition of sugar to the green leaf will indirectly help the sugar industry.
