Fertiliser subsidy hike

This has reference to "CCEA decision on fertiliser subsidy hike soon" (Business Line, July 29). Fertiliser subsidy should not be based on past costs of production unless it relates to those past years.

Manufacturing companies cannot coerce the Government to hike subsidies by entering into contracts in anticipation of the subsidy sanction and disbursal.
