SUNDARAM Brake Linings Ltd has posted a 32 per cent increase in net profit and a 15 per cent increase in sales in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year. Its net profit was Rs 2.58 crore on sales of Rs 32.22 crore against a net profit of Rs 1.95 crore on sales of Rs 27.93 crore in the first quarter of 2003-04.

Domestic sales at Rs 17.09 crore were up 24 per cent from Rs 13.74 crore and exports at Rs 15.12 crore (Rs 14.19 crore) were up 7 per cent.

Interest cost was down by 26 per cent — to Rs 43.73 lakh (Rs 58.98 lakh).
