Contractors hold demo in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A joint action council of contractors' organisations staged a demonstration in front of the Government Secretariat here to press a list of demands, including release of outstanding bill amounts due to them.

Other demands pertained to upward revision of the rates fixed by the Public Works Department in 1998, setting up of a welfare fund for them, exemption from the purview of sales tax and assurance on availability of river sand in required quantities for construction work.
